Post Doctoral Fellow - Digestive Diseases
A postdoctoral position is available to study the role of iron in liver injury related to diabetes and metabolic diseases. This is an NIH-funded study to understand the detrimental effects of hepatic iron overload on ferroptosis induction and stress responses of the liver in the context of hyperglycemia and in non-alcoholic fatty liver diseases (NAFLD). The prospective candidate will have the opportunity to use primary hepatocyte culture, conditional knockout mouse models, state-of-the-art techniques such as transcriptomics, proteomics and lipidomics, and other molecular/cell biology techniques to address the critical role and underlying mechanisms of iron-induced liver damage associated with diabetes and NAFLD.
