JOB SUMMARYThe Medical Dosimetrist I, as a member of the radiation oncology team, generates radiation dose distributions and dose calculations (in partnership with the Medical Physicist and Radiation Oncologist) for the treatment of cancer patients.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLEStudies patients' medical histories. Reviews and verifies the physician's treatment plan/prescription for treatment technique, treatment volume, critical organs, treatment dose, precautions, and orders/notes.Designs treatment plans by means of computer and/or manual computation to establish a treatment field technique that delivers the radiation oncologist's prescribed radiation dose while limiting loss of important healthy organ function.
