Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center is an independent, nonprofit organization providing adult cancer treatment and groundbreaking research focused on cancer and infectious diseases. Based in Seattle, Fred Hutch is the only National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center in Washington.

NIH has recently launched a program focused on the health of Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders (AsA-NHPI), and Fred Hutch has been chosen as the Coordinating Center (CC) for this national effort. The Coordinating Center's objective is to provide scientific, statistical, and cultural expertise and coordination support to establish this population-based cohort of AsA-NHPI, studying health conditions and disease burden that are unique and common for this population. The study includes five Clinical or Community Field Centers (CCFCs) throughout the US. The AsA-NHPI Coordinating Center is seeking a committed, energetic Community Outreach and Engagement Coordinator to join our team. This is a full-time position.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include supporting the Community Outreach and Engagement (COE) Committee Chairs and other CC Investigators and staff regarding all community outreach engagement activities at the AsA-NHPI Coordinating Center (CC) related to study recruitment and retention.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Designing materials including leveraging digital/social media platforms
• Office administration, providing follow up with COE Committee members as well as CCFC teams
• Assist the COE committee in all activates including planning outreach strategies
• Coordinate translation and adaptation of all study documents
• Organize and conduct focus groups and/or qualitative interviews
• Assist with creating and ordering recruitment, retention and outreach materials
• Assist with procedure development, updating, and maintenance
• Prepare special and recurring reports
• Perform related duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• BA/BS plus 3 years related experience in academic-community partnership research or community-based clinical research, community outreach, and data collection for research projects
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Candidates for the position must be willing to learn a variety of skills related to recruiting for cohort study for healthy adults
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision, and also as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Demonstrate computer skills with proficiency in a variety of software packages and social media: Word, Excel, database programs, MS Outlook
• Detail-orientated; strong organizational skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Strong problem-solving skills; taking initiative with good judgement
• Effective time management skills
• Flexible to work variable work schedule due to CCFCs locations spanning from Hawaii to the East Coast
• Experience working with AsA NHPI populations and languages
• Proven ability to handle sensitive subject matters and confidential participant information and issues raised during community outreach or engagement activities

Preferred Qualifications:

• Graduate degree plus 1 year related experience in experience in organizing and conducting interviews and analysis, qualitative data analysis software, research or academic environment
• Previous experience recruiting and retention for cohort studies
• Familiar with the AsA NHPI communities
• Experience with managing community-based projects or research studies
• Fluency in an Asian or Pacific Islander language

The hourly pay range for this position is from $29.76 to $42.37 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
