This position is located in the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Mid Atlantic Health Care Network (VISN 6), Western North Carolina Health Care System (WNC HCS), Charles George VA Medical Center (CGVAMC), in the Executive Office, assigned to Research and Development. This is a TERM appointment NTE 4 years. **This is a TERM appointment NTE 4 years.** Major duties include but not limited to: Reviews the Computerized Patient Records System (CPRS) to identify potential research subjects, builds/maintains ongoing relationships with potential referring programs within the VA, and helps to design recruitment strategies and utilizes recruitment tools to maximize patient participation. Explains study protocol to potential study participants, obtain informed consent, ensure that all aspects of the consent process are met and collect data while following study protocol. Publicizes study within the Medical Center and identifies potential study participants. Responsible for explaining study rationale and procedures to prospective subjects and Medical Center staff. Responsible for completing all participant case reports and enter data into the electronic data capture system within the scheduled time frame as outlined in the study protocol. Reviews and is familiar with funding opportunities, federal and industry, for grant submission; provides expertise and guidance for investigators and study teams. Mentors and guides study teams with protocol writing and submission to IRB and R&DC Responsible for initiating and starting local studies. Identifies areas within the program's research portfolio to develop locally to meet the Office of Research & Development (ORD) research priorities. Performs other duties as assigned.
