Marshfield Clinic Research Institute (MCRI) is the largest private medical research institute in Wisconsin. Our doctors and research scientists actively participate in cutting edge cancer research including life-saving clinical trials and research to improve cancer prevention, early detection, care delivery and patient outcomes. Eau Claire – Marshfield Medical Center Cancer Center’s Oncology Research Nurse plays a key role in presenting treatment alternatives and an assessment of treatment risks and benefits associated with each clinical trial. The oncology research nurse’s primary role is to ensure completeness, accuracy and compliance with each protocol and to assist principal investigators and co-investigators of clinical studies in coordinating and facilitating the activities of participants in clinical research protocols. He/she is also responsible for identifying clinically significant events through patient assessments and review of a variety of medical documents (e.g. medical records, laboratory reports). The research nurse is responsible for following institutional standards of research nursing practice within his/her scope of duties and responsibilities.

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred
Two years of progressively more responsible nursing or medical data management/abstraction experience with a minimum of six months of RN work experience; Two to three years of clinical research and protocol management preferred
Current State of Wisconsin Registered Nurse License or Nurse Compact License.
Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN), Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP), or Society of Clinical Research Associates (SoCRA) certification must be obtained within six months’ of qualification.
CITI Course in The Protection of Human Research Subjects certification through Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) within 90 days of hire.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of hire.
