About University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria
The Mission: To advance health for everyone through outstanding education, research, clinical care, social responsibility and collaboration.
A student-focused culture with teachers and faculty mentors who are friendly, supportive, and helpful is how graduates of the University of Illinois College of
Medicine Peoria describe the unique culture. We are located in downtown Peoria’s medical district within six blocks of more than 950 patient beds at its two primary clinical affiliate hospitals. Future physicians training in Peoria benefit from small class sizes and experience hands-on medicine and clinical experiences across a wide variety of specialties and sub-specialties, often
one-on-one with attending physicians and resident physicians.
Multidisciplinary research is supported and encouraged. Research mentors offer students excellent opportunities to become active investigators while gaining experience and flourishing as a researcher. Research labs focus
on cancer research as well as Alzheimer’s, multiple sclerosis, stroke, neurotoxicology of environmental agents, and ion channel research.
