Chair, Department of Pediatrics, Saint Barnabas Medical Center
RWJBarnabas Health is currently seeking candidates for the role of Chair of the Department of Pediatrics, Saint Barnabas Medical Center. SBMC's Department of Pediatrics consists of 212 physicians and is comprised of 13 sections, including all pediatric inpatient functions (Neonatologists, Intensivists, Hospitalists, Pediatric Emergency Medicine physicians) as well as pediatric subspecialists (Rheumatology, Endocrinology, Nephrology, Infectious Disease and more). The Chair will manage current and create new policies that ensure quality, attract and strengthen relationships with pediatricians and pediatric specialists in the region, and increase market share. Additionally, the Chair will provide support and serve as a faculty member for our Graduate Medical Education activities, including pediatric residents and medical students. He/she will also remain clinically active.
SBMC is home to a world-class 37,000-square-foot, 56-bassinette Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, a 10-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, and the state’s most experienced Pediatric Renal Transplant Program. The Saint Barnabas Pediatric Specialty Center offers a wealth of outstanding pediatric specialties, advanced technologies and a full scope of programs and services in an outpatient setting located in nearby West Orange, NJ.
Qualifications include the following: Board Certification in General Pediatrics with possible added qualifications and boards in a subspecialty area. Candidate should demonstrate keen understanding of ACGME accredited residency programs. Experience in healthcare quality, resource management, outcomes improvement, patient safety, and the patient experience are ideal. All candidates must be licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of New Jersey. 7+ Years in medical leadership within large, sophisticated, organizations with significant educational programs. Track record of success in working with both voluntary and full-time employed physicians. Ideal candidates will also possess political savvy, emotional intelligence, and ability to effectively interact at both the multihospital system and local levels. Additional experience with system integration and change management is also desirable. Ability to meet the requirements for an academic appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor level.
