This position is to join a dynamic and very busy research clinic with multiple contracts with the NIH and pharmaceutical companies. Studies currently being conducted include observational studies of COVID19, phase 1-3 COVID vaccine studies and ongoing HIV vaccine research. Studies in therapeutic agents in adult populations. Applicants should be able to work with a variety of subjects and have clinical research experience and under general direction and with latitude for independent judgment assume full responsibility for various clinical projects as outlined below. This is a full-time position with daily hours subject to change according to project requirements, but generally involving Monday – Friday daytime / evening hours.
Assists with research subject enrollment for multiple clinical studies. This may include recruitment of subjects from off-site locations. The RN makes assessments, provides support and education, and helps coordinate subject management.
Coordinates and performs research interventions, sample collection, and laboratory analyses. High-level nursing evaluation and critical thinking will be key along with the support of the team including the Doctor and Study Coordinator.
Interacts daily with enrolled and prospective research subjects and their families, physicians, and co-investigators. Evaluates and interprets clinical data to assess patient’s eligibility for clinical trials; coordinates study visits and procedures per study protocols.
Coordinates data entry and data management. The RN will complete consent forms, complete/maintain study documentation and data entry into study portals.
Communicates with study coordinator and monitors site assuring study compliance. Collects and tracks study documents and study expenses.
Assists with development of study protocols, clinical trial budgets, data collection tools, and consent forms.
Assists with data analysis and other duties as assigned
NYS Licensed Registered Nurse required; Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred. 3 to 5 years of prior research experience. Or equivalent combination of education and experience. Background clinical experience in critical care environments, enthusiasm for clinical and translational research, dedication, and strong work ethic are essential. Candidate must be a flexible, independent thinker who wishes to work as an integral part of a research team. The candidate must be detailed-oriented with strong organizational skills, and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
