Mednax has a great opportunity for a full-time BC/BE neonatologist to join our well-established practice in Lafayette, Louisiana.
The practice provides 24/7 in-house coverage at Our Lady of Lourdes Women's and Children's Hospital with a 50-bed NICU.
This unit is the only one in Lafayette Parish designated with Level-III regional status, a distinction shared with only six other NICUs in the state.
The hospital has 3,400 births per year and offers a full range of pediatric medical and surgical subspecialists.
Services provided include high frequency ventilation, nitric oxide, and total body cooling as well as ground and air neonatal transports for the surrounding area.
The practice also participates in many quality improvement projects at local, state, and national level.
This is an opportunity to work at a facility which is located in a Health Professional Shortage Area (HPS), or Medically Underserved Area/Population (MUA/MUP).
Located in South Central Louisiana, Lafayette is the state's fourth largest city and is a few short hours' drive to New Orleans. The region's legendary joie de vivre, or love of life, and Cajun and Creole culture are known around the globe, creating a unique environment for work and play; it's no wonder Lafayette was named the “Happiest City in America” in 2016! Local museums, community events, and festivals are responsible for providing the modern-day arts with a southern flair. In order to give students a more exciting and fulfilling educational experience, the Lafayette Parish school system offers Schools of Choice at the Elementary, Middle and High School levels. There are also over 25 private and parochial schools in and around Lafayette Parish to compliment the public school system. Whether you enjoy fast-paced urban living or a quieter country setting, Lafayette is a wonderful place to live.
