As the Clinical Pharmacy Supervisor at ChristianaCare's Helen F. Graham Cancer Center, you will provide direction and supervision of the clinical and staff personnel of Hematology Oncology Pharmacy Services.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for providing clinical pharmacy services for Oncologic, Hematologic, and Immunologic conditions
Provides extensive, direct pharmaceutical care in collaboration with providers in the Cancer Service Line, participates in drug therapy consults, clinical research protocols, provides patient/family/staff/physician education, and precepts pharmacy residents and students
Supervises all activities of pharmacists and technicians within the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center and inpatient oncology pharmacy services to promote efficient and highly effective levels of service to our patients
Assures the proper maintenance and functioning of the satellite pharmacy facilities and day to day operations of the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center Pharmacy
Ensures ongoing compliance with applicable regulatory standards and best practices, including USP 797 and USP 800, Delaware Board of Pharmacy, and other state and federal regulatory bodies
Participates in the development, review, and modification of policies and procedures relating to Oncology Pharmacy services.
Collaborates with other members of the Pharmacy department team to provide a continuity of care to cancer center patients moving between the outpatient and inpatient settings
Collaborates with members of the pharmacy supply chain team to maximize medication availability for patient care while minimizing waste
Contributes to departmental planning and service coordination as a member of Pharmacy Services' leadership team
Responsible for the performance management and evaluation process of assigned personnel
Provides ongoing development of process standards and dashboards to promote effective, accurate, and timely dispensing of new orders
Participates in the selection and hiring of staff and coordinates their orientation and training
Supervises activities of clinical pharmacists and specialists to assure expected level of services
Collaborates with the IVAS Director and Director of Specialty Pharmacy to coordinate pharmacist and certified pharmacy technician support of hematology/oncology specialty pharmacy initiatives
Responsible for training new clinical personnel, including departmental- and position-specific orientation, departmental policies and procedures, WebEd curriculum, clinical credentialing, and other training as appropriate.
Responsible for creation and maintenance of clinical assignments for oncology pharmacists and technicians
Coordinates with Clinical Pharmacy Specialists, Informatics pharmacists, and others assigned to collect departmental data to make appropriate use of the information it provides.
Coordinates and oversees hematology/oncology order set creation, updates, and approval by the P&T committee.
Assists in coverage of Oncology Pharmacy services as needed to maintain level of service
Coordinates and integrates oncology clinical pharmacy services within the department and between other departments and service lines.
Consults with nursing and department heads to assess and ensure appropriate level of service
Demonstrates a Culture of Responsibility (CoR) during event investigation, conversations with personnel and proactive identification/resolution of risky behaviors.
Represents pharmacy on committees as assigned by the Director IVAS/OR and Oncology Pharmacy Services
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Pharm.D. degree required
ASHP-accredited residency required; equivalent experience will be considered
Completion of a PGY2 residency preferred
Current licensure (or eligible to reciprocate) State of Delaware
Minimum five years hospital clinical pharmacy experience
