The Research Coordinator is responsible for all activities associated with conducting a clinical research study.  Responsibilities include: communicating with study sponsors, participating in the planning and executing of research projects, interfacing with the primary investigator, statistical reporting, assisting with creating study budgets, assessing patients for appropriateness of study participation, submitting all forms, protocols and consents to the IRB, obtaining and preparing specimens and working closely with the clinic's comprehensive team.

Areas of Direct Responsibility

  • Communicate with study sponsors, primary investigators as required by the needs of the study and work closely with the comprehensive team, including the genetic counselor and risk management personnel.
  • Coordination of the trial participants covering informed consent, screening and inclusion of the subjects adhering to safety and compliance issues
  • Assess patients for inclusion, exclusion criteria, and appropriateness of study participation.
  • Maintain complete records for each study in an organized manner that meets regulatory criteria.
  • Coordinate and submit all necessary forms, protocols and consents to IRB.
  • Perform venipuncture, preparation of specimens, handling, packaging, shipping of hazardous materials to the appropriate sites.

This position may required occasional travel to Outreach Clinics throughout the State of Indiana.


Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of research coordinator experience is required.
  • Associate's Degree in related field is required.
  • Valid driver's license and automobile insurance is required.

Clinical research studies may offer patients and payors substantial new treatment options and cost savings related to laboratory testing. The IHTC has a long-standing history of leadership in clinical research, with numerous active studies available to eligible patients. The IHTC performed the world’s first human infusion of the following products: Genetically engineered factor IX concentrate Long-acting genetically engineered immunoglobulin fused factor IX concentrate Genetically engineered von Willebrand factor concentrate Genetically engineered bio-similar factor IX concentrate Intravenous Plasminogen (Human) Concentrate The IHTC independently evaluates the need for each study, weighing above all the project’s safety as well as the potential impact on future patient care. The IHTC coordinates a wide range of clinical research including pharmaceutical, observational, investigator-initiated, quality-of-life analyses, and nationally funded studies (e.g. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and National Institute of Health).
