Description Your Role: Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is seeking to hire a Cytotechnologist PRN in the Diagnostic Anatomic Surgical Cytopathology Laboratories, whom will report to the (Team Leader of Cytology Laboratories), and whom will have responsibilities for screening GYN slides for the purpose of microscopic detection and diagnosis of cancer, premalignant changes, and other non-neoplastic diseases. Responsible for the accurate performance in a manner that complies with all approved protocols. Utilizes critical thinking and problem solving skills to assure accurate and reliable clinical outcomes. Position Qualifications Required:

TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES: DIAGNOSTIC TESTING - (NOVICE): - Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully demonstrate diagnostic testing in practical applications of moderate difficulty. SPECIMEN COLLECTION - (NOVICE): - Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully demonstrate specimen collection in practical applications of moderate difficulty. Generally works under the direction of others while accomplishing assignments. QUALITY ASSURANCE - (NOVICE): - Has provided continuous analysis and evaluation of assignment work processes, constantly striving for improvement in the way tasks and activities are accomplished by questioning their value to the process and contributing creative solutions. Has participated in the process of establishing, communicating and monitoring standards for quality and excellence. Demonstrates the ability to actually work on and improve a current business process, product or service. PATIENT EVALUATION (NOVICE): - Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully demonstrate the ability to conduct a patient evaluation in practical applications of moderate difficulty. Capable of effectively assessing the relative merits of alternative products or services.
