Description Speech Pathologist PRN YOUR ROLE : Pi Beta Phi Rehabilitation Institute (PBPRI) at Vanderbilt Bill Wilkerson Center is seeking a PRN Speech-Language Pathologist. In this role, a speech-language pathologist has responsibilities to evaluate and treat patients with speech, language, and cognitive disorders resulting from neurological conditions and diagnoses that include, but are not limited to, traumatic brain injury, stroke, Parkinson's disease, ALS, MS, Huntington's disease, and tumor. PBPRI is the outpatient interdisciplinary neurorehabilitation program at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. SLPs work as a team with colleagues in occupational therapy, physical therapy, and social work to promote community re-entry, and vocational and/or academic transitioning for the patients at PBPRI. Department/Unit Summary The Pi Beta Phi Rehabilitation Institute (PBRI) expands the traditional services of the Vanderbilt Bill Wilkerson Center by providing comprehensive neuro-rehabilitation services including: The Institute serves as the neurological outpatient rehabilitation center for adolescents and adults at Vanderbilt Medical Center. Common neurological diagnoses treated include traumatic brain injury, stroke, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, brain tumors and balance disorders. An individualized, structured program is designed for each patient with a goal of maximizing independence in physical, cognitive and emotional functioning. Our therapists work together as a team to ensure they are addressing issues with physical, cognitive, and emotional functioning, as well as communication, visual perception and daily living. Because the goals of each phase of the rehabilitation process differ, each outpatient therapy program may emphasize different therapies and different levels or aspects of functioning.
