The Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center (MEDVAMC) and Baylor College of Medicine in Houston is seeking a rheumatology board-certified academic rheumatologist to lead the section of Rheumatology. The candidate should have leadership skills and should have a strong academic background, including participation in active research, a track record of significant discipline-specific publications, and an established record of excellence in education and mentorship activities for trainees. Experience in grant support and/or clinical research is highly desirable. The applicant is expected to fulfill the clinical, academic and research missions of our division, and should be poised to qualify for academic appointment at our affiliate, Baylor College of Medicine, at the Associate Professor or Professor level. In addition to outpatient clinical work, the applicant is expected to round on rheumatology and internal medicine wards and participate in the on-call rheumatology consult schedule. Excellence in research, mentorship, education and quality improvement are important assets.
