The new AVP will serve as a vital member of Wellstar’s leadership team and will be responsible for the development and oversight of the strategic and operational direction of the entire research enterprise. This leader will serve as the key liaison to research leadership from partner institutions and will facilitate research activity in Wellstar’s GME programs. The AVP will possess a commitment to advancing Wellstar Health System’s strategic plan while creating a facilitative research environment and navigating an increasingly complex research regulatory environment. The AVP reports to the Executive Vice President and Chief Clinical Integration Officer and will have an opportunity to advance the institute and personally grow this role.
Based in the Atlanta metro area, Wellstar Health System is the largest health system in Georgia with 21,000 team members throughout the system’s 11 hospitals, 240 medical office locations, outpatient centers, health parks, nursing centers, and other entities, including hospice, homecare, and a pediatric center. Since 2011, the Wellstar Research Institute (WRI) has been the centralized research administration arm of Wellstar Health System.
Master’s in related field is required and a Doctorate from an accredited institution preferred.
Certifications as both an IRB professional (CIP) and Clinical Research Professional (CCRP).
Fifteen years of progressive research administration leadership experience.
Regulatory compliance experience in research finance and contracting, human subjects research protections, IRB regulations, and all federal and state requirements pertaining to the compliant conduct of research.
Comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of the research industry including academic institutions and pharma/device industry, as well as a strong network with the national research societies such as SoCRA and ACRP.
