The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases seeks exceptional and motivated leaders to serve as physicians within the Division of AIDS (DAIDS). The physicians will have a wide range of responsibilities relating to the oversight of a major extramural clinical research program in HIV/AIDS and related conditions. Duties include identification of research gaps and opportunities (diagnostics/biomarkers, drugs/biologics, vaccines), translation of new preclinical tools and interventions into clinical use; development of the clinical research agenda; design, review, and approval of trial protocols; and oversight of the implementation of ongoing trials, including the safety and welfare of participants. U.S. citizenship, M.D. or D.O. with active medical license, and experience in clinical research in infectious diseases are required. Candidates with board eligibility or board certification in adult or pediatric infectious diseases, internal medicine, or pediatrics are preferred.
