Collaborates with teammates in managing the operations of the Human Research Protections Office and Institutional Review Board (IRB), providing consultation and guidance to researchers and IRB members, often serving as the first point of contact. Advises investigators and study team members on how to properly prepare their submission and advises on federal regulations as well as local and organization policies. Screens modification and continuing review proposals for adherence to federal regulations and local policies and ensures the correct level of review is applied. Occasionally reviews Human Subjects Determinations, and screens minimal risk and exempt initial review submissions. Performs complex analytical and business tasks typically on a project basis; completed independently or under general supervision. Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in related field. Experience: One year experience in clinical research or health care/clinical environment. Preferred experience in working with an IRB and/or human subjects research oversight. License, certification, and/or registration: None required. Other minimum qualifications: Ability to solve problems, issues; listen, interpret and confirm understanding of others' communications; use sound judgement, and be objective. Effective, efficient and tactful oral and written communication skills. Time management skills and the flexibility to accommodate changing priorities. Ability to work in a team-oriented setting, to prioritize work, and to follow through on routine assignments with minimal direction. Independence, planning and decision-making abilities to complete assigned duties. Excellent customer service skills, pleasant, helpful and patient. Strong organizational skills, the ability to multi-task, and work with frequent interruptions. Demonstrated ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and discretion. Knowledge of clinical research and medical terminology desired.
