The director Provides overall administrative leadership for the Clinical Research Program. Directs and coordinates the daily operations of the Clinical Research Program. Serves as the Program’s liaison to various hospital and research administrative offices and departments and as the representative on various institutional committees.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Develops and recommends policies and procedures to support effective and efficient operations of the Clinical Research Program. Works independently to implement such policies and procedures and evaluate their results. Participates in strategic planning efforts for the Program and Clinical Research Enterprise.
Directs and coordinates the daily operations of the Clinical Research Program. Maintains knowledge and awareness of and ensures compliance with relevant hospital policies and procedures and requirements, as well as laws of various regulatory agencies. Serves as the Program’s liaison to various hospital and research administrative offices and departments and various institutional committees.
Develops the annual staff and operating budget and assumes accountability for monitoring Program expenditures within budget.
Develops, writes, and monitors various status reports and performance indicators for the Clinical Research Program including the Program Annual Report, periodic financial reports, staffing needs, funding success rates, and Program utilization reports.
Provides administrative leadership for the planning and implementation of key Program or Institutional initiatives including NIH roadmap initiatives. Monitors implementation and measures performance metrics.
Oversees various outreach activities including developing and writing an informational newsletter and conducting presentations in other forums such as town meetings.

Minimum Knowledge and Skills Required
Work requires the knowledge of theories, principles, and concepts acquired through the completion of at least a Master’s degree with at least 5 years experience in conducting clinical research. PhD Degree strongly preferred.
Work requires significant experience in a research environment: including pre- and post-award policies and procedures for sponsored clinical research; grants management; research regulatory compliance; intramural and extramural funding agencies' policies/procedures, and clinical research information systems.
Work requires the written and verbal ability to effectively direct projects and completion of complex clinical research initiatives.
