Assists principal investigators (PI) in determining patient protocol eligibility.
Communicates effectively with external sponsors and completes feasibility questionnaire.
Partakes in obtaining informed consent and HIPAA authorization with potential research patients, ensuring that patients demonstrate an understanding of the research.
Randomizes/enrolls patients into trials through the process defined by the research sponsor.
Ensures adherence of protocol guidelines.
Assesses patients for changes in their health status, protocol-related side effects and compliance with treatment guidelines.
Acts as a data manager by collecting and tracking all necessary source documentation. Records and submits case report forms to the research sponsor and other entities as specified. Maintains the patient chart.
Ensures all clinical research records and source documents are accurately maintained.
Submits all necessary documentation to the IRBs as requested.
Maintains protocol regulatory binders and files.
Tracks and documents annual patient accruals.
Collaborates with clinical functions (for instance, imaging, clinical biology, cardiology).
Acts as clinical research resource to other CH professionals.
Exercises discretion and judgment when educating nursing staff on research protocols, and ensures compliance with those protocols on nursing units.
Bachelor's degree in Nursing or graduate of an accredited nursing school.
Three years' experience in nursing.
Research experience in a research or clinical trials setting in industry, academics, medical center or private practice.
Experience in an acute care nursing facility is preferred.
Excellent computer skills (database management, word processing, presentation) and Internet research capabilities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Must be detail-oriented.
Excellent problem-solving skills.
Valid NJ RN license.
