The Director provides oversight related to the clinical / scientific management and execution of clinical studies and research throughout the Network. This includes collaborating with the Office of Research Administration (ORA) Leadership in developing and implementing a strategic plan for research, and execution of research activities in the clinical space, including clinical trials.
This leader will:
Form strong relationships with participating physician-researchers, industry sponsors, study volunteers, research staff and department leaders across the network.
Work with the Foundation office related to sponsored programs that have clinical operational impact.
Collaborate with the Director of Research Compliance & Regulatory Affairs to ensure the compliance of the research sites, and facilitates with local, state, and federal regulations.
Supervise clinical managers.
Knowledge and understanding of 21 CFR 50, 56, 312, 812 (FDA) regulations regarding management and execution of human subject research, current training in human subjects protection.
Ability to establish good working relationships with product line leaders, physician investigators, referring physicians, research staff and clinic staff.
Ability to set achievable goals and targets, (including financial, clinical, educational and safety) for each team in each product line.
Proven experience in clinical research, performance improvement methods, and compliance improvement.
Skilled in public communication, speaking, and relationship skills.
Detail-oriented, organized, and a self-starter; self-disciplined and able to work independently.
Must be able to prioritize tasks; work well under stress and with heavy workload, meet aggressive timelines, and problem solve to quickly and tactfully manage challenging situations concerning customer groups.
Must work well in a matrix environment.
Minimum of five (5) years of clinical research in a leadership position.
Masters (MS, MBA, MPH, MSN or equivalent) required; PhD preferred; process improvement training preferred.
None required; current licensure in Indiana if practitioner license. Clinical research certification or equivalent training preferred.
