Participates in patient recruitment ensuring proper informed consent, eligibility requirements are met and enrolls patients into trial.
Manages patents on research study ensuring all study required visits are completed per protocol.
Maintains compliance with protocol requirements and all applicable regulatory requirements.
Appropriately utilizes the EMR to manage patient on study and to communicate with clinical staff. Participate in monitoring, site initiation and close-out visits.
Coordinates clinical research data collection for pharmaceutical studies, Federal studies or investigator initiated studies in patient records (paper and electronic), sponsors documents (electronic and paper) and other forms for data collection.
Performs accurate and complete data entry, case report form completion and query management.
Maintains patient study binder per departmental guidelines including all related source documentation.
Ensures data is entered into clinical trial monitoring visits, site initiation visits and close-out visits as needed.
Attends required training, maintains applicable certification and/or licensure as required.
Attends regularly scheduled departmental or team meetings.
Ensures regulatory compliance of clinical research program.
Provides working direction for research activities to clinical staff and/or other non-licensed medical or office support personnel.
May coordinate interface between clinical research program and basic/clinical research collaborators at university and other institutions.
Monitors and evaluates patients involved in research studies, including their response to therapy. Advises the physician and sponsors on current conditions including possible side effects of therapy. Reports adverse events through the appropriate sources per the policy of the protocol and the University Institutional Review Board (IRB) regulations.
Provides general scientific support for clinical research program staff and university business office.
May assist in developing and implementing research studies to include writing clinical trials.
Occasionally, attends and participates in out of town meetings.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Duties performed may include one or more of the following core functions: (a) Directly interacting with or caring for patients; (b) Directly interacting with or caring for human-subjects research participants; (c) Regularly maintaining, modifying, releasing or similarly affecting patient records (including patient financial records); or (d) Regularly maintaining, modifying, releasing or similarly affecting human-subjects research records.
Master's degree in basic sciences, business administration, or related field and three (3) years progressive research/grant administration and coordination experience.
Bachelor's degree in basic sciences, business administration, or related field and five (5) years progressive research/grant administration and coordination experience.
Preferred: oncology experience, CCRC or CCRP certification
