The Division of Infectious Diseases at the VA Medical Center, Cincinnati, OH in collaboration with the Division of Infectious Diseases at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine is seeking a part-time physician with training in Infectious Diseases and expertise in the management of mycobacterial disease to join a multidisciplinary infectious disease program. The applicant should have specific post fellowship training and experience in mycobacterial infectious and didactic clinical research training with a view to developing a combined clinical and clinical research program with the Pulmonary Section for the management of mycobacterial and other chronic pulmonary infections.
Duties include provision of in-patient and out-patient infectious disease consultative services, infectious disease out-patient clinic services including general infectious disease, HIV management and sub-specialty primary care management. Teaching duties include infectious disease fellow, resident, and medical student trainee supervision. Other Infectious Disease section duties including assistance with antibiotic stewardship management and infection control supervision as required. The Infectious Disease program at the Cincinnati VAMC provides complex inpatient and outpatient services with dedicated support staff. The clinic is supported by in-clinic clinical ID pharmacist, mental health and dedicated nursing staff. Responsibilities will include supervision of infectious disease fellows and residents from University of Cincinnati, and management of patients with HIV, mycobacterial infections and general infectious diseases conditions. The infectious disease specialist attending on the teaching service provides coverage for inpatient service. Medical residents regularly rotate on the infectious disease program. Theinfectiousdisease program is highly focused on outcomes and also strongly encourages research activity.
The Cincinnati VA provides support for UC Infectious Diseases fellowships and is a major venue for student, resident, and fellow clinical learning. The Cincinnati VAMC has a newly-built multipurpose research building as well as an active clinical research unit. The Cincinnati Education and Research for Veterans Foundation is the active nonprofit affiliated with the Cincinnati VAMC Research Development Department (http://www.cervf.org) and provides assistance with all non-VA research studies. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
Preferred Experience: Board certification or eligibility in Infectious Diseases; Completion of an ACGME-recognized 2 year Infectious Disease fellowship program and additional didactic training or qualifications in clinical research is preferred.
