We are seeking an ABIM board certified or eligible nephrologist for a full-time position at theW.G.(Bill) HefnerVeterans Affairs Medical Center (SVAMC) in Salisbury, NC. This position is located in Internal Medicine Specialty Service. Duties include provision of nephrology care in both inpatient care-located in Salisbury, NCONLY and outpatient care-located in Charlotte, NC ONLY. The position requires that the nephrologist provides first on-call coverage during evenings, nights and weekend hours and on holidays. The nephrologist is required to see inpatient consults and provide medical oversight for inpatient dialysis. Outpatient clinic responsibilities will include seeing patients at an off-site chronic hemodialysis unit at the Health Care Center located in Charlotte, NC.
Expertise in general nephrology, hemodialysis (HD), peritoneal dialysis (PD), complicated hypertension, pre- and post-renal transplant management, nephrolithiasis and other general nephrology areas is essential. The position will also include supervising a pharmacist-run anemia management program.Proficiency in performing dialysis vascular access procedures would be advantageous for the prospective candidate.
Responsibilities also include active participation in a telehealth service providing chronic kidney disease care to veterans residing in rural regions. Academic interest in teaching fellows, residents and medical students is essential. Candidates should have an active interest in clinical research and be willing to participate regularly in the CME program organized by the Medicine Service.

Inpatient services will remainin Salisbury, NCand Outpatient services will be at the Charlotte HCC.
Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
