The University of Manitoba is seeking applications for a Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in the Department of Human Anatomy and Cell Science. This full-time tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor is directed at individuals with a strong research interest in employing advanced genome editing strategies. This position commences April 1, 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter. Applicants must have a Ph.D. and/or an M.D. degree or equivalent, and must have engaged in relevant post-doctoral research.
Candidates must have experience and exceptional track-record in genome editing with a preference in mammalian systems. This position is contingent upon a successful application for a 5 year renewable NSERC Tier 2 Canada Research Chair position.
The candidate is expected to develop an internationally recognized, externally-funded, independent research program that uses genome editing to interrogate stress response pathways and effects on cell differentiation, with applications in tumor biology, chromosomal engineering, mitochondria targeted editing, synthetic lethality, and/or cell death. We offer collaborative opportunities with experts in tumor biology, stem cell research, proteomics, neurosciences, and cardiovascular sciences in an interdisciplinary translational research environment with existing programs in oncology, regenerative medicine, and neurosciences and core facilities in transgenic animals, imaging and histomorphology. Responsibilities of the position also include contributions to graduate teaching and service for the Department, University, and academic/scientific community.
This NSERC Chair, Tier 2 position is intended for exceptional emerging scholars (i.e., candidates must be less than 10 years from the awarding of their highest degree at the time of nomination to the CRC secretariat). The Chair is valued at $100,000 per year for 5 years with an option to renew once.
