The Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at the Penn State Children’s Hospital and the Penn State University College of Medicine is recruiting a Director of the Pediatric Neuro-oncology Program. Pediatric Hematologist/Oncologists with expertise in treatment of pediatric brain tumors and an established record of accomplishment in patient care, clinical research, and/or teaching are encouraged to apply. Candidates must be board certified or eligible in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology. Rank is at the Assistant to Full Professor level, commensurate with experience, accomplishments and leadership. Opportunities for program development and support of research are significant.
The Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology currently has 13 full-time and 1 part-time Pediatric Hematologists/Oncologists, and 12 Ph.D. faculty. Over 100 new oncology patients are seen annually, and in addition to neuro-oncology, there are dedicated programs in pediatric stem cell transplantation, experimental therapeutics, survivorship, AYA oncology, hemophilia, and sickle cell disease. The division has an accredited Pediatric Hem/Onc fellowship program and is an active member of COG, PBMTC, POETIC, and the NMTRC. Patient care and research in pediatric oncology at Penn State are well supported by Four Diamonds and the Four Diamonds Pediatric Cancer Research Center. Opportunities to participate in clinical and translational research are outstanding. Clinical investigation is supported by the Four Diamonds Fund of the Penn State College of Medicine, an NIH-funded CTSI, Pediatric Clinical Trials Office, the Penn State Cancer Institute and the Institute for Personalized Medicine. A new Children’s Hospital which opened in 2013 provides an excellent environment for patient care and clinical research.
