The Renal-Electrolyte Division in the Department of Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh and UPMC is currently recruiting several Research Associates and faculty members to serve as Clinician Educators, Physician Scientists and Research Instructors. These positions are open rank Assistant, Associate or Professors of Medicine. Rank and tenure status to be determined based on qualifications.
The Division of Renal Electrolyte has built a dynamic team of productive and collaborative physician scientists. There will be opportunities for academic growth, career development and mentorship, with protected time for research activities, depending on applicant interests and accomplishments. We have strong basic and clinical research programs, and encourage translational research activities. Academic appointment is commensurate with professional experience. There are opportunities for leadership roles within our division. Compensation packages are competitive.

Clinical Educators must be: • ABIM board certified in Internal Medicine and board certified/board eligible in Nephrology • Licensed to practice medicine in Pennsylvania • Duties for this position will consist of a mix of clinical, teaching, and academic responsibilities
Physician Scientists must be: • ABIM board certified in Internal Medicine and board certified/board eligible in Nephrology • Licensed to practice medicine in Pennsylvania • An active research program and a demonstrated research funding record • Duties for this position will consist of a mix of research, clinical, teaching, and academic responsibilities
Research Instructors/Basic Scientist must possess: • PhD in a relevant discipline • Previous research experience and funding history desired • Duties include independent and collaborative research, writing and manuscript submissions, obtaining external research funds, and teaching
Research Associates must possess: • Post-doctoral degree in a relevant discipline • Duties include the design and implementation of research projects, interpreting and analyzing of results, writing manuscripts and grant applications, obtaining external research funds and teaching
